Island Peak also called as Imjatse Himal due to its location within beautiful and scenic Imjatse valley which consist Dingboche and Chhukung villages or seasonal settlements with amazing views of Amadablam north face with Lhotse and Island peak. Island Peak truly looks like an Island rising up from the middle of Imjatse valley towards blue sky line with other mountains on either side that encloses this beautiful and pretty country beneath Lhotse peaks. Island peak stands at 6,189m/ 20,305 ft high, which is a missing ridge and flank of Mt. The climb of Island Peak grade is PD + means 'Per Diffcule' the standard of grading classification taken from famous and popular French and Swiss Alpine Climbing System as used worldwide for this type of alpine climb, the grade shows that climb leads to long snow line, moraine and glaciers. A straight forward climb of a day with some technical difficulties in some section to tackle on route its top summit, where fix ropes-snow bars required along with proper climbing gear including life saving ice axe, crampons and proper boots for the climb of Island Peak. Island Peak or Imjatse Himal located high above Khumbu valley within Everest region which is on North Eastern Nepal, where a short flight from Kathmandu takes you to Lukla the gateway town of many adventure around Everest region as well its ends here at Lukla with its unique airstrip. Walk leads through several nice Sherpa farm villages encountering prayer, Mani walls and wheels with wonderful inscriptions on rocks and boulders, as the path follows the glacial Dudh Kosi River through Phakding-Monjo villages and into Sagarmatha National Park (Sagarmatha Nepalese name for Everest and Sherpa calls Chomolungma of Tibetan origin) As the walk progress reaching at famous high Namche Bazaar where weekly colorful and busy Saturday market is held, here with time to explore the local culture in the shade of tall snow capped peaks. From Namche walk leads through nice and cool alpine forest of rhododendron-magnolia-juniper-pines-oaks-birch and fir tree lines with constant views of Everest and Amadablam including other peaks all along the walk to reach at scenic Thyangboche Monastery surrounded with mountains and green forest.
From Thyangboche walk leads to our destination within picturesque Imjatse valley at Island peak base camp with options walking to Everest Base Camp and climb of Kalapathar to add more exercise and for proper acclimatization. Island Peak Climb and Everest Base Camp Trekking can be done all months of the year except the monsoon July and August the wet months, April to June best time with much sunlight and longer days, September to November also a best time for visit and climb with cooler morning and evening time. November to March short days, but clear most of the day with occasional snow drops on high altitude with arctic temperature of chill wind factor.
