Upper Mustang Trekking

Encounters Nepal unveils a mysterious and interesting Upper Mustang trekking  on the remote North West Nepal Himalaya on the ancient Trans Himalayan Salt Caravan Route where it ends at South West Tibet border.

The unofficial Mustang Raja (state king of Mustang), the only king of this state in Nepal adding another highlight of this fabulous journey, most of the terrain which is a desert valley appears similar to USA ‘Grand Canyon of Arizona’, making this valley even more interesting and impressive. 
This region is least trekked by western visitors as this was just opened in 1992 AD minimizing the flow of travelers as part of eco-trek and tourism in this fragile country, trek to Upper Mustang offers great opportunity to explore the traditional Tibetan cultures and the lifestyle of the remote and isolated village people of Mustang in far North West Nepal.  
Upper Mustang gets more trekkers from April to October, the month of May and end of April is more special as per the Tibetan Buddhist Luna calendar as this high Upper Mustang holds a widely popular ‘Tiji Festival’ which falls in the fifth month of the Tibetan lunar calendar and in May under Christian calendar. 
This marvelous adventure starts with a short scenic flight from picturesque scenic Pokhara valley to Jomsom the administration headquarter and main town of Mustang area famous for apples and its products, from here entering the forbidden kingdom of Upper Mustang through Kagbeni, Tsele, Ghame, Tsarang village in complete wilderness where tree lines disappears for desert landscapes and with interesting time exploring the Walled City / Village of Lomanthang in the shade of high Mustang Himal which Damodar, Bhirkuti Himal and Dhaulagiri range of mountains.
